Located in the heart of Basildon, and in close proximity to the local train station, this landmark building was designed for the British headquarters of Ford Motors but had been vacant since 2005. The development gained planning consent under permitted development for conversion into residential accommodation. A further planning consent was approved for the external upgrade works, including new windows; curtain walling; and cladding.
Working within the confines of the existing building, the redevelopment incorporates 384 apartments across nine floors. The bespoke apartments were designed to the Miflats brand for Criterion Capital and include a range of one-bedroom and two-bedroom open-plan apartments; accessed via a remodelled concierge reception. The site was designed to maximise car parking and cycle storage provision within an access-controlled environment.
