Crosslane are redeveloping the site in central Portsmouth, formerly occupied by Stanhope House, to provide student residences for their Prime Living brand. The accommodation, provided over a nineteen-storey tower plus basement, will include a combination of 256 studios and cluster bedrooms together with a range of supporting facilities such as reception, games rooms, study rooms, gym, cinema & tv lounges.
We were invited to review the consented planning scheme and work with the design and build consultant & construction team to provide a proposal that was deliverable within the client’s commercial envelope. Resetting the plan and rationalising the external envelope were two key elements that quickly assisted in this process whilst not compromising either the design principles or the consented scheme. Currently on site this landmark tower in the heart of Portsmouth is due to be completed for the intake of the 2019/2020 student academic year.
