Spring Wharf is located to the west of Bath, adjacent to the River Avon in a prime corner position. The development includes 171 apartments, retail units and communal gym. The development is split over blocks of varying scale, Two blocks are linked by a communal landscaped podium and gym above an undercroft carpark. The largest block includes a reception area and retail units which command the prominent corner at the junction of Lower Bristol Road and Windsor Bridge Road.
We undertook a detailed design review to rationalise the construction and detailing to provide a proposal that was deliverable within the client’s commercial envelope. Working with the D&B team, the design changed from a full steel frame construction to a steel frame/structural SFS construction. Significant layout changes were required by the client during the construction stage and were incorporated within the layouts without delaying the overall construction programme.
