This regeneration project in the heart of the city included the remodelling of a five-storey existing office block into a POINT.a hotel for Queensway Group. We were asked to review the project with a view to optimising bedrooms and, with our extensive understanding of the brand, we were able to maximise the footprint and provide a 123-bedroom hotel.
With an existing atrium at the heart of the building, bringing daylight deep within, we strategically planned the atrium-facing bedrooms to maximise the number of bedrooms receiving natural daylight. Other interventions included opening up the atrium to connect it visually to the main feature stair case at first floor level. We worked closely with the interior designer and client to launch the new POINT.a brand, with POINT.a Glasgow being the first to open in the UK.
